A “New” Eight For Hawton, Nottinghamshire.

Work to create a “new” ring of eight for Hawton is nearing completion. This ambitious scheme has been conceived by local ringers who have also undertaken the building and installation of the new bell frame to Taylor’s design. Originally a 9 cwt ring of four, the treble bell has been retired and will be hung as a service bell – the remaining three have been tuned to become 5, 6 & 7. The 14 cwt tenor bell has been donated by the Keltek Trust and originally hung in Bishopwearmouth. Bells 1 & 4 were originally part of the old ring at Cheltenham Minster, and two new bells have been cast as 2 & 3. New fittings have been manufactured for all the bells and all nears readiness for dispatch.
