Conserving Ancient Church Bells

Restoring and conserving old bells forms an important part of our business, and with generations of experience we can claim to be experts in this field. Removing cast-in iron crown staples from the crowns of these bells lessens the risk of them becoming cracked in their heads, and designing and manufacturing headstocks that allow original canons to be retained is now standard. Sadly the fine ancient bell in the photograph from St Peter’s, Codford, Wiltshire came to us with its canons removed long ago. The bell dates from 1625 and is the work of bell founder John I Lott.
