St Mary's Church

United Kingdom

This 14 cwt ring of eight was rehung by Taylor’s in 2009, and as part of that contract the Ellacombe Chiming System was dismantled and stored in a church yard shed. The P.C.C. has now placed an order for it to be restored and reinstated. The hammers will be fully refurbished, cleaned by sandblasting and then be modified to “trigger action” function which places the bells at less risk of being cracked on their soundbows. All new pulleys will be manufactured and the Ellacombe Rack itself restored. The system will be reinstalled with new chiming cord etc.

Update

  • The old chiming hammers have been collected and are at Loughborough for modification and restoration.
The hammers have been sandblasted clean.
The chiming hammers are being modified to trigger action Ellacombes.
