London, Enfield, Middlesex.
Bramley Road Clock Tower.
This town clock tower was built in 1936 and in that year Taylor’s cast a diatonic chime of five bells and Smith’s of Derby manufactured a clock mechanism capable of playing the nursery rhyme “Girls & boys come out to play”. The clock tower is to undergo restoration and while this is ongoing, the bells have to be removed and then reinstated after the restoration of their framework and fittings. It is some time since the citizens of Enfield last heard their clock chime, and its return will gladden many hearts!
