Last week the cast iron headstocks from Arlecdon, Cumbria came back to Loughborough for the fitting of new gudgeons & bearings. They were last at the Foundry 115 years ago when they were made. After a quick sandblasting they’ve come up like new and will serve that church for centuries to come. Arlecdon’s clappers, crown staples and roller boxes came with them, and they too will be restored and returned to the church.

Similarly, we regularly rebuild bell frames on new grillages that we supplied more than a century ago – they too clean up like new and will give good service almost indefinitely. It’s worth thinking about – quality might cost a little more initially but always wins out when that cost is spread over so many years of service!
