PART OF BELL FOUNDRY HOUSE GARDEN IS GIFTED TO THE LOUGHBOROUGH BELLFOUNDRY TRUST!

As their contribution to the Foundry restoration scheme Charnwood Borough Council has gifted part of Taylor’s Bell Foundry House garden to the Trust. Bell Foundry House, where the Taylor’s originally resided, was demolished in the mid 1970’s, and its garden was sold to the local authority for the building of social housing, with a good portion of it being used for landscaping. With the return of part of the garden a new entrance can be created, with the carillon tower housing a new 47 bell carillon as its central feature.

Charnwood Borough Council has been so supportive throughout the developing stages of the restoration, and we are really grateful for their support and this generous gift.

The planning for the main project is well underway, with building expecting to start early in 2022, but already 2 million pounds worth of emergency repairs have been carried out. The photo shows the restored main wall of the wood department which was the original foundry building!
