This tower houses a magnificent Taylor eight with a tenor bell weighing 25 cwts in the key of D. The entire installation dates from 1923, and with the centenary of the bells approaching, the church has placed an order for all the bells to be lifted from their pits for the cleaning/replacement of their bearings. All the bell wheels will be returned to Loughborough for the stripping of paint and for the re-fixing/repairing of the shrouding. The rope roller boxes will similarly be removed for restoration at the Foundry.
*The removal of the fittings will begin on Monday 15th March.
*The clappers and crown staples are under restoration.
*Rehanging underway.
