The fitting of variable sound control systems in towers is one of the services we are pleased to offer customers. Where complaints are generated by the volume of church bells, particularly on practice nights or when teaching is taking place, these systems can provide a really good diplomatic solution.
We have installed such a system at St Mary’s, Cheadle, Cheshire in recent weeks and have taken measurements of its effectiveness. When comparing the volume of the bells outside the church before and after its installation it proved to be between 2 & 3 DBA different when open, but 20+ DBA quieter when closed. The electronics allow the system to be operated by a switch in the ringing chamber – it couldn’t be simpler and the parish is highly delighted with the results.
