The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin.

United Kingdom

The PCC of this church has placed an order for a major refurbishment and rehanging of their peal of eight bells with a 9 cwt tenor. The bells are the work of six different founders and date between 1627 & 1973. The bells and their fittings will be removed from the tower and brought back to the Foundry. The older bells will be conserved and have their cast-in iron crown staples removed before the eight are tuned to correct as many tonal faults as is possible. The clappers, crown staples, rope roller boxes and bell wheels will be restored, and the bell headstock bearings will be cleaned/replaced as necessary. Bells 6, 7 & 8 will be quarter turned to present new surfaces for their clappers.  The ring will then be rehung in the tower.
