The authorities at this theological college have ordered work to be carried out on their single 21″ diameter Thomas Mears bell of 1837. At present the bell cannot be sounded because its clapper is missing so a new automatic chiming system and hammer will be manufactured and supplied with an Apollo programmable unit so that the bell can mark the hours, the Angelus and be tolled. This work will be carried out immediately so that the bell can be used for the funeral of the College Rector, Canon Giles Goward, which takes place next week.
