Our project to restore and develop the Foundry buildings and environment continues apace in spite of the Covid19 national crisis and, after a tremendous amount of hard work and advice from many professionals, we are finally in a position to submit our formal bid to the National Heritage Lottery Fund for approval. We hope to secure the “go-ahead” in the closing months of this year, with work starting some time during 2021. In the mean time fund raising towards our “matched funding” target of £1.1 million continues and we would welcome further donations to “The Loughborough Bellfoundry Trust”.
The Photograph shows the alarming water penetration damage to one of the main roof trusses of the large tuning room. This damage has already been rectified and room’s roof fully restored as part of the £1.3 million emergency repairs carried out during the past two years – this is above and beyond the £5.5 million project we now hope to begin.
