John Taylor & Co Bellfoundry is seeking a Service Engineer to lead and deliver its national bell servicing programme. This is a practical, hands-on role suited to an experienced bell ringer, bell technician, or field service engineer with strong mechanical skills and an understanding of bell installations and ringing systems.
The role involves travelling to bell towers across the UK to inspect, service, and maintain bell installations and ringing equipment, preparing service reports, and identifying maintenance or improvement work. You will manage your own service schedule and work closely with the company’s office and sales team.
A six-month training period will be provided alongside the current Service Manager, who is transitioning to a part-time role.
Key Requirements
- Strong mechanical and practical problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of bell installations, ringing systems, chimes, or carillons
- Highly organised and able to plan and work independently
- Good written communication skills for reports and quotations
- Commercial awareness and ability to identify additional maintenance opportunities
- Active bell ringer preferred
