Dymock, Gloucestershire, The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin.

The tower of this church houses a 17 cwt ring of six from the Rudhall Foundry, with bells dating between 1707 & 1829. The bells were rehung in 1979 by another contractor but subsequently it has been found that most of the new cast iron headstocks have fractured. The bells and their fittings will be removed to Loughborough for the fitting of new cast iron headstocks, gudgeons and bearings. The bell wheels will be adapted to fit the new headstocks, and the rope roller boxes will be restored.

  • Work to remove the bells to Loughborough begins on Monday 24th June.
  • The bells and their fittings are now at Loughborough.
  • The bells have been cleaned by gentle sand blasting.
  • New seating pads have been cast on the bells’ crowns.
  • The new headstocks have been cast and fitted with gudgeons and bearings.
  • The bells have been tuned.
  • The bell wheels have been adapted and repaired.
  • All is ready for dispatch.
  • Penzance, Cornwall. The Roman Catholic Church of, the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady.
