Filming and Photography Opportunities at John Taylor Bellfoundry

The John Taylor Bellfoundry offers a unique and captivating backdrop for industrial photography, documentaries, and interviews. With its rich heritage and historic charm, the foundry draws many filmmakers and photographers looking to capture the essence of craftsmanship and tradition.

As an actively working foundry open Monday – Friday, we also welcome enquiries about participating in documentaries focused on traditional skills and craftsmanship. We are enthusiastic about shining a light on these important topics, especially when they raise awareness of the foundry and encourage visitors to take tours organised through the Loughborough Bellfoundry Trust.

‘The John Taylor Bellfoundry is a photographer’s dream—an absolute treasure trove of potential for striking images. Stepping inside feels like a journey into a not-so-distant industrial past, with an abundance of machinery, bells, and tools scattered throughout. It’s impossible not to be captivated by the textures and history embedded in every corner’.

Mass is a collective of photographers creating new narratives in the built environment. The collective is led from their East London studio by photographers Francesco Russo, Henry Woide, Luca Piffaretti and Luke O’Donovan, working closely with an eclectic network of collaborators on each project.

Due to the Bellfoundry’s status as a working industrial site and heritage attraction, filming and photography requests are assessed jointly by John Taylor & Co. and the Loughborough Bellfoundry Trust on a case-by-case basis. Arranging visits, coordinating access and supervising activity requires staff time, so submission of an enquiry does not guarantee access. Priority may be given to projects that support the charitable objectives of the Loughborough Bellfoundry Trust, promote understanding of bellfounding and its heritage, or provide a clear benefit to the Bellfoundry.

Depending on the nature of the project, an administration fee may apply. Any fee or voluntary donation helps support the ongoing maintenance, conservation and restoration of this significant site. Your contribution plays a vital role in preserving the Bellfoundry and its heritage for future generations.

We look forward to hearing from you.
