Arklow, County Wicklow, Republic of Ireland. The Parish Church of St Saviour.

June, 2025 | 2025 Projects

The steeple of this church houses a beautiful Taylor eight with a 22 cwt tenor bell dating from 1898. Having served the church for more than 125 years major maintenance is now needed to restore and update the fittings. The bells will be lowered into their pits and their fittings will be removed to Loughborough. New gudgeons will be forged into the cast iron headstocks, and new bearings and cast iron bearing housings will be manufactured. All new bell bolts and bell pads will be manufactured, and the rope roller boxes will be fully restored. The clappers and crown staples will be fully refurbished before all the fittings are returned and the bells rehung.

* The bells have been lowered and the fittings have been removed from the bells and are now at Loughborough.
