The 13 cwt six in this tower is the work of four different founders, and the bells date between 1587 & 1911. The bells were rehung in a new cast iron and steel bell frame in 2000 by another contractor, but a recent inspection has identified that the gudgeons of the treble and second bell are loose. These bells will be lowered into their pits and their headstocks taken to the Foundry for the fitting of new gudgeons and replacement bearings if needed. All the clappers and crown staples will also be fully refurbished, and the spheroidal graphite clappers will be re-profiled to allow the bells to “sing”.
