The small bell at this church no longer functions, having lost its clapper some time ago. It is to be replaced by a larger bell from the closed church of St Mark, Burnley. This bell, cast by Taylor’s in 1962 has a diameter of 18″ and weighs 1.25 cwts. It will be hung externally on a specially constructed wall bracket and will be sounded by an electro-magnetic chiming hammer that can be operated manually or by a pre-programmed Angelus Tolling Unit.
