In November cracks were discovered in six of the eight wrought iron clappers at Marlborough. As an emergency job the clappers and crown staples were removed to Loughbrough, fire welded, annealed and completely restored. With only a few days to spare the clappers and crown staples were returned to the bells and Marlborough bells rang out on Christmas morning.
Debbie Wylie, church warden, has written: ” Taylor’s… promised to have the clappers reinstated for Christmas. The wrought iron clappers needed to be stripped and the heads reforged then repainted and rehung.
Simon Adams himself came to Marlborough yesterday with the repaired clappers and rehung them, checking our bells at the same time.
The bells will ring out in Marlborough on Christmas morn. Thank you Taylorbells.”
