The 15 cwt ring of six in this tower is the work of five different founders and date between circa 1335 and 1953. The bells hang in an oak frame dating from 1759 which is now no longer strong enough to contain the forces generated when the bells turn.
A major rehanging is to take place. A new cast iron and galvanised steel bell frame will be designed and manufactured, together with all new ringing fittings for the bells. The bells will be cleaned and conserved, but no tuning will take place. The 1335 fourth bell by Peter de Weston will be strengthened in its crown by bronze welding The old bell frame will be preserved within the tower.
