Historic England Launches Heritage at Risk Register 2025 at the Bellfoundry
The Bellfoundry was pleased to host Historic England’s East Midlands press launch for the Heritage at Risk Register 2025 on Thursday 6 November. Representatives from the BBC and other media outlets attended the event, which took place inside the historic John Taylor Bellfoundry in Loughborough.
The Heritage at Risk Register provides an annual snapshot of the condition of England’s historic sites and buildings, highlighting those in need of attention and celebrating progress where it has been made.
John Taylor & Co. has been removed from the Register following significant restoration work supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Historic England, and many generous donors. One of the site’s buildings remains in need of repair, but much of the complex has been secured for the future.
During the event, guests also witnessed a bell casting for Elmley Castle, a timely reminder that the Bellfoundry is not only a heritage site but also a living, working foundry where traditional craftsmanship continues every day.
