The 11 cwt Taylor six at this church was cast and installed in 1878. After nearly 150 years of continuous use a major rehang will now take place.
The bells will be removed to Loughborough for cleaning and some limited re-tuning. The canons of the front five bells will be removed and new seating pads cast on the bells’ crowns. New ringing fittings will be manufactured for all the bells, with the exception of the wheel centres which will be adapted, strengthened and re-used. The bells will be rehung in the existing Taylor oak frame of 1878.
The ringing chamber will be re-sited on the ground floor of the tower to complete the job.

* Sunken bearing housings for a wooden bell frame have been manufactured and are ready for fitting..
* The new clappers and crown staples are being manufactured.
* The new headstocks have been fitted to the bells.
* The bells are being timed on the ringing up stand.
* The bells and their fittings will be delivered to Hovingham on Wednesday 27th May.

* The bells have been test rung – just finishing off to complete project.
