Updated: 3 days ago

The steeple of this church houses a Gillett & Johnston 10 cwt six in the key of Ab. The cast iron and steel bell frame and five of the bells were cast and installed in 1923, with the treble bell being added in 1949.

The steel grillage on which the entire structure sits has corroded badly and the entire installation will be removed to Loughborough. The cast iron frame sides and headstocks will be cleaned by sand blasting, and a new galavanised steel grillage will be manufactured and the bell frame rebuilt. The bell wheels will be re-soled and re-shrouded and all the other fittings restored before installation at Greetham.

  • These bells have been lowered and the bell frame is being dismantled.

  • The bells and their fittings are now at the Foundry.

  • The bells are being voiced.

  • The cast iron frame sides have been sand blasted clean and primed ready for painting.
