The steeple of this church houses a 20 cwt ring of ten, the back eight of which were cast by London Founders between 1765 & 1964. Two trebles were added by Taylor’s in 1935. The bells were last rehung by Warner’s in 1913.
A major recasting, augmentation and rehanging is now to take place. The bells, frame and fittings will be removed from the tower and the bells will be recast into a 24 cwt ring of twelve in the key of D. Two further bells, a light treble and flat sixth, will also be cast.The 1935 Taylor trebles will be re-tuned and become the 3rd & 4th of the new ring.
All new ringing fittings and a new cast iron and galvanised steel bell frame will be manufactured.
* This project is scheduled to start at the end of June.
* The largest four bells were removed to Loughborough on 1st July, leaving the front six in place for a pre-booked wedding.
* The new tenor bell is scheduled to be cast on 27th August 2026 together with the 9th bell.
* The remaining bells will be cast on 10th September, 24th September, 29th October & 12th November…
