The tower of this church houses a 13 cwt ring of six, the work of Thomas II Bilbie and dating from 1759.The bells were last rehung with all new fitt6ings in a cast iron and steel bell frame by Taylor’s in 1937. Severe rusting of the grillage of the frame has significantly weakened it, making a major restoration inevitable.
The entire installation will be removed to Loughborough for cleaning and restoration. A new stronger base grillage will be manufactured using galvanised RSJ’s. The cast iron bell frame sides and headstocks will be cleaned by sandblasting, and all the fittings will be restored before it is reinstated in the tower.
* This work is scheduled to start in November..
