John Taylor Bellfoundry Projects

Elmley Castle, Worcestershire. The Parish Church of St Mary.

January, 2026 | 2025 Projects

The tower of this church houses a 17 cwt ring of six, the work of four different founders dating between circa 1420 and 1948. An order has now been received for a major remodeling and rehanging of the ring.

The poor sounding tenor bell and the three treble bells will be retired, and will be rehung in a separate frame for automatic chiming. The existing 4th & 5th will be tuned to become the new tenors of a 12 cwt six. Three new treble bells will be cast  in addition to a new treble which was cast at Taylor’s in 2011 in preparation for this work. A new cast iron bell frame and mostly new ringing fittings will be manufactured and installed to complete the work.
