John Taylor Bellfoundry Projects

Salt, Staffordshire, St James’ Parish Church.

September, 2025 | 2025 Projects

The stone turret of this church houses a swing chime of two bells by Thomas II Mears dating from 1842 – largest bell 3 cwt. The bells were rehung on new fittings by Taylor’s in 1961, and these remain in good order. However, the stonework of the turret has deteriorated and needs extensive rebuilding so the bells will be removed to Loughborough to allow this work to be undertaken. Once funds are in place the bells and their refurbished fittings will be rehung.

* These bells were removed on Thursday 25th September.
